Pads are generally categorized as soft or hard. Although soft pads have better braking, they wear out quickly. Hard pads, on the other hand, have poor braking ability but have a long wear time.
Brake Lining
Brake padThe first thing to consider is; When the pads are first installed on the vehicle, there is a process of getting used to the vehicle system and structure. This process varies from vehicle to vehicle, but on average it takes 3-4 days. During this process, drivers need to be very careful as the pads are not fully compatible with the vehicle system. Since the pads are directly related to the wheel structure, sudden braking should be avoided.
After the pads go through this process, they begin to wear out months later. The disc surface on which the pads are installed must be undamaged and smooth. If wear has occurred on the disc, the worn surfaces are removed by machining or turning. However, machining or turning for the disc is considered suitable for one-time use. The reason is that it destroys the disk structure after the second process. Under normal circumstances, the disc system is replaced with a new one in new model vehicles. For older model vehicles, these procedures are used for cost reasons.
